Acknowledging Baker Hughes’ strong sustainability performance

Baker Hughes Named to Dow Jones World Sustainability Index

In 2012, Baker Hughes was identified as a world sustainability leader through our listing on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. The ranking is based on an assessment conducted by Sustainable Asset Management AG (SAM), and this was the first year Baker Hughes participated in the evaluation.

SAM annually invites more than 2,500 of the world’s largest companies from 58 industry sectors to report on their sustainability performance. The resulting assessment analyzes economic, environmental, and social criteria, such as corporate governance, energy consumption, and stakeholder relations. Within the Oil Equipment and Services sector, 56 companies were eligible for evaluation. Baker Hughes was among nine companies in the sector listed to the world sustainability index.

Baker Hughes strives to operate in a sustainable manner, and our addition to the sustainability index is a proof point of our efforts. Corporate social responsibility is strongly supported by our culture and core values of integrity, teamwork, performance, and learning. By achieving this status on the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index, Baker Hughes has demonstrated its leadership position as a socially-responsible organization among oil and gas service companies.

SAM is an investment management firm focused on sustainability investing. The companies that participate in the assessment are credited with incorporating sustainability into their strategies. Launched in 1999, The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, offered by SAM and S&P Dow Jones Indices, were the first global sustainability benchmarks.
