Baker Atlas Production Logging Run in Qatar Identifies Production Zones and Behind Casing Channel
Baker Atlas recently performed a tractor-conveyed production logging operation in Qatar using the
Reservoir Performance Monitor (RPM) system in combination with pressure, temperature and spinner tools. The objective was to identify producing zones and determine the presence of a behind casing channel in the horizontal section that could influence remedial work. Using the RPM in Hydrolog™, FloShot™ and pulse neutron capture modes enabled the client to positively identify a channel to a suspected fracture zone in a single run and determine new zones for perforation. FloShot mode is normally performed as a stationary measurement. However, the logging program included a successful continuous logging pass, the first time an application of this type has been attempted. The 38-hour operation was completed with no lost time.
Centrilift, Baker Oil Tools Install First Offshore ESP System in Libya
Centrilift and Baker Oil Tools have successfully installed the first offshore
ESP system in Libya. The flawless completion was conducted in the Bouri Field. This is a mature development that has started to face reservoir issues with increasing water cut. The ESP installation brought the well back into production with a lower than expected water cut. The project required careful coordination when newly designed equipment was deployed in the severe well environment.
INTEQs AutoTrak® X-treme® System Achieves Step Change in Performance for UK North Sea Well
INTEQ has achieved a step change in performance by applying new drilling technology. In a UK North Sea field, a 14-3/4" section was needed to run 11-3/4" casing and accommodate the HSP pump. Traditionally, this hole size has been drilled with either steerable motor assemblies or AutoTrak RCLS and an underreamer. By using the
AutoTrak X-treme system setup for drilling a 14-3/4" hole, the section was drilled in one single run with an ROP increase of 60% and a significant reduction in vibrations. This was the first deployment of AutoTrak X-treme for the Operator and the world's first for this hole size.
Hughes Christensen
Genesis® Motor Steerable PDC Bit Sets Field Record in South China Sea
Hughes Christensen recently set a One Fast Run field PDC record in the South China Sea. An 8-1/2" HCM505 featuring
EZSteer™ technology drilled 1213 m (3980 ft) at 18.2 m/hour and finished the entire 8-1/2" pilot hole section in one run. The BHA built from 46° inclination and landed at 90° with maximum dogleg severity of 6.41°/30 m, while turning from 220° azimuth to 46°. This is the first bit that drilled from shoe to shoe with
one bit at an excellent penetration rate, 52% faster than the average.
Baker Oil Tools Assists in Repairing Tubing Leak in Shah Deniz Well on Short Notice
Days into production of the first gas/condensate well on the Shah Deniz platform, a leak was observed and the well was shut in. Leak diagnostics showed a comparatively small leak at a joint collar above the mud line tubing hanger. The decision was made to cure the leak with a chemical from Sealtite to be squeezed in the leak. This operation required the installation of a
retrievable bridge plug from Baker Oil Tools directly below the leak. On short notice, a WG plug was mobilized and run into the well where a Sealtite squeeze was performed, resulting in successful repair of the tubing leak. The plug was successfully retrieved and the well was brought back onto production only a few weeks after the tubing leak was discovered.
Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids Provides Fluids for Kenya's First Offshore Well
Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids provided fluids for drilling the first well in Kenya. The Pomboo-1 well was drilled relatively trouble free in a water depth of 2200 m (7218 ft) using the Chikyu drillship. The major challenge for this work was the limited time for mobilization with a load out that included 7400 bbls (1176 m³) of
SYN-TEQ® synthetic based drilling fluid, 2200 bbls (360 m³) of ALPHA-TEQ™ base oil, and 1750 metric tons of other bulk materials. In deep water and drilling through mostly reactive clay formations, the fluid system was carefully designed and managed throughout the job. The Operator specifically acknowledged BHDFs logistical planning and execution, upfront laboratory work, operational support and the fluids engineering onboard the drillship.
Baker Petrolite Supplying Production Chemicals for the Cabinda
Field in Angola
Baker Petrolite is now supplying
production chemicals for the
prolific Cabinda field in Angola. The current production rate is
at 600,000 BOPD and is expected to climb to approximately 1
million BOPD in the next few years. Baker Petrolite is also
supplying
corrosion inhibitors for the field. |
