Baker Oil Tools Completes First Horizontal Gravel Pack in Australias Stybarrow Field
Baker Oil Tools Australia successfully completed the first horizontal gravel pack in the Stybarrow field. At a water depth of approximately 875 m (2871 ft), Stybarrow is Australias deepest oil field development. Solutions far exceeded conventional gravel pack completions wisdom with uphill deviation of the wellbore. BOT’s Torque and Draq and XOTPAQ software were used in the design phase and proved valuable during the execution of the well. Well response was accurately predicted throughout the job. BOTs
CS-300™ AP gravel pack system combined with BetaBreaker™,
EXCLUDER2000™ screens and RB-valve also performed flawlessly. The job design was excellent and the pumping operations were executed flawlessly, enabling a successful gravel pack.
Baker Petrolite to Provide Chemical Services for Timan-Pechora District in Russia
Baker Petrolite Russia is providing the first fill in the Timan-Pechora District of Russia with a full range of oilfield chemicals and associated services. BPCs ability to deliver product into the Arctic regions of Russia was a service differentiator. The products will be staged for delivery via ice roads this winter, as well as ship transports once sea-ice conditions allow.
Centrilift Providing De-watering Systems for Oklahoma Gas Wells
Centrilift has been awarded a 10 well de-watering project in Oklahoma. The project will make use of 15,000 to 20,000 bpd de-watering systems on gas wells. They include
Centurion® pumps for better efficiencies at the specific design rate,
Centinel downhole pressure sensors, and
Electrospeed® three variable speed drives to control flow rates and provide productivity information for developing pressure drawdown curves. The first system has been installed. All 10 will be deployed by year end.
INTEQ, Hughes Christensen Achieve a World Record Run in Troll Field
INTEQ Norway and Hughes Christensen recently completed a world record run in the Troll field on the semi submersible Deep Sea Trym. The 6-3/4"
AutoTrak® X-treme System, in conjunction with
OnTrak®,
LithoTrak®,
CoPilot® and an HCC's
Genesis® PDC drill bit, drilled an 8-1/2" horizontal hole section of 2027 m (6651 ft) in 212.6 total circulating hours (153.4 drilling hrs). System functionality enabled the wellpath to be optimally positioned, including two planned open-hole sidetracks. The customer said, Reliable performance in harsh drilling environments is a fundamental requirement on these complex high cost developments and is only possible with thorough planning and great teamwork.
Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids X-LINK System Solves Lost Circulation Problem in the Gulf of Mexico
Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids recently achieved success with its
X-LINK® Lost Circulation Material (LCM) in the Green Canyon field of the Gulf of Mexico. At 17,500 ft (5334 m), after drilling through a transition zone with synthetic-based mud (SBM), the operator observed dynamic losses in excess of 30 barrels per hour. After placing the well on a trip tank, a static loss of four barrels per hour was observed. BHDF Fluid Engineers recommended X-LINK LCM as a quick and effective solution. A 100-bbl pill of X-LINK was mixed and pumped downhole at a rate of five bbls per minute. After chasing the pill with SBM, returns were regained after the pill exited the bit. By utilizing the X-LINK LCM, the operator regained full circulation with no additional losses.
Baker Atlas Uses Pipe Conveyed Logging to Log and Core Challenging Northeastern Canada Well
Baker Atlas recently had several successes with a
remote Northeastern British Columbia pipe-conveyed logging
operation. The well in question had two >10° doglegs. A
Development Risk Management evaluation indicated the operation
would only be feasible using pipe-conveyed logging. The customer
almost abandoned the original logging and sidewall coring plans
saying, “Sidewall coring on pipe could not be done
successfully.” Baker Atlas was able to dispel the concerns. The
crew efficiently completed a series of logs using the
EARTH Imager®,
HDIL, ZDL and CN services and subsequently took 30 core
samples with 100% recovery. |

OASIS Certification
Enhances Drilling & Evaluation Optimization Services
Hughes Christensen and INTEQ have launched the OASIS Application
Engineering certification and employee development program. The
program is designed to efficiently disseminate high-level
knowledge processes and learning tools throughout the two
divisions application engineering and geoscience groups.
