Baker Petrolite Providing HI-M-PACT™ Low Dosage Hydrate and Corrosion Inhibition for an Offshore Wet Gas Pipeline
Baker Petrolite is providing a highly efficient, compatible
HI-M-PACT Low Dosage Hydrate Inhibitor (LDHI) and corrosion inhibitor for an offshore, large-diameter wet gas pipeline
in the Gulf of Mexico. The Best-in-Class kinetic hydrate inhibitor from BPC is used very effectively in conjunction with its corrosion inhibitor to treat even the most severe oil and gas production conditions, increasing operating efficiency and reducing capital and operating expenses.
Centrilift Installs First Riser Lift ESP in the Gulf of Mexico
Centrilift has installed the first riser lift
electrical submersible pumping (ESP) system in the Gulf of Mexico. Artificial lift was necessary to boost production from the subsea field to a spar platform. ESP technology was used to handle the high flow rates and increase overall reserve recovery from the field. The patented Centrilift riser lift system
and riser eliminated slugging and liquid loading in the flowline system
and riser, increasing production by over 2,000 barrels per day and increasing ultimate reserve recovery by an estimated 35%. This unique ESP installation was completed with a hydraulic unit to minimize costs and Baker Hughes ProductionQuest offshore spooling and banding services to ensure flawless execution.
Hughes Christensen EZCase™ Casing Bit Drills Successfully through Potential Blowout Zone in Venezuela
In Venezuela, casing drilling was selected as the best option to isolate a 500 ft (152 m) thick clay which was a potential thief zone that could cause underground blowouts. The objective was to drill down 500 ft (152 m) of 9-5/8" casing through a problem zone starting at 165 ft (50 m). A 12-1/4"
EZCase EZC306 from Hughes Christensen was selected to improve on durability from a previous well where a competitor's system had drilled. The bit drilled a total of 477 ft (145 m) through the potential blowout and thief zones at over 20 ft/hr. The section was drilled and cased in 24 hours. Following cementing, the EZCase shoe was successfully drilled out in 45 minutes using a PDC bit.
INTEQ Deploys HydroLift™ Coring System for a Successful Deepwater Offshore India Program
INTEQ India has successfully deployed the HT60
HydroLift Full Closure System in a deepwater well. It was the single largest coring program utilizing this system to date. The coring team completed ten consecutive coring runs using 27 m (90 ft) core barrels and Genesis® design core heads. A record 258.4 m (847.7 ft) of unconsolidated core were recovered with 95.67% core recovery and 100% coring efficiency. The ROP using Genesis core heads was 20.10 m/hr (65.9 f/hr). The coring program was completed on schedule, averaging almost one core run per day. The task was made more challenging with severe rig and weather conditions.
BHDF Performs Successful Field Trial of New TERRA-MAX(SM) Fresh Water High Performance Mud System
Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids reports a successful field trial of
TERRA-MAX, a new fresh water high performance water-based mud system in onshore applications. The system was used in the 8-1/2" hole section of a vertical well in Brooks County, Texas. While drilling the troublesome Brigham, Loma, and Dawson sands in the region, typical problems included severe lost circulation, low ROPs, and stuck pipe. The combination of enhanced wellbore stability and the unique technology of the TERRA-MAX system was a critical factor in its selection to drill the well. The interval was logged and casing was run with no problems. The interval was completed six days ahead of plan and without any losses.
Baker Atlas GasView(SM) Cased Hole Analysis Yields Successful Production Test for a Challenging Utah Well
Baker Atlas Rockies recently logged its first
GasView service for an independent operator in the Uintah Basin of Utah. Although the client already had open hole logs over an interval of interest (even in some cases having competitor NMR data), the customer was experiencing unsuccessful production tests. The disappointing results were attributed to the changing Rw values, which made the traditional Sw calculations difficult. After GasView service was introduced (emphasizing its unique offering of Rw-independent gas saturation analysis), the client ran the GasView service on one of the cased wells that had inconclusive open hole analysis. They completed the well based not on the open analysis but on the GasView analysis, and the well came in naturally at 850 Mcfpd with minimal water and condensate.
Baker Oil Tools Achieves Successful Wellbore Clean Up and Casing Exit in Egypt
After a competitor could not successfully set their 9-5/8" hydraulic casing exit system, a major customer based in Cairo, Egypt called Baker Oil Tools for help. A standard clean up and gage operation had been conducted prior to the deployment of the first casing exit system, but this had been unsuccessful and debris was still present in the long, highly-deviated section of the well. BOT delivered specific wellbore clean up procedures and equipment to remove as much debris from the well as possible. This allowed a casing exit system to be successfully set and the exit milled. BOTs
VACS™ (Vectored Annulus Cleaning System) was used as the primary method to remove debris. After one VACS tool run was completed, a gauge run was conducted prior to the installation of a bridge plug. BOT then ran a bottom trip mechanical whipstock and successfully set it at 15,940 ft (4859 m) in a hole deviation of 76°. Total milling time for the casing exit was 16 hours and a total of 45 ft (14 m) were milled.
ProductionQuest Installs Harvest™ Pressure/ Temperature Gauges in a Brunei Smart Completion
ProductionQuest has successfully installed five
Harvest pressure/temperature gauges in a smart completion in Brunei. Each gauge was installed below a 7.0" packer, with thick-walled 0.049" downhole cable fed through each packer to an internal control valve (ICV) and to the gauge mandrel at a distance of 16-18 m from packer to gauge cable head. A second six-zone well has also been completed where six HARVEST gauges were installed. PQ gage data is needed to operate and control each zones ICV to maximize and balance production from each zone. All the ICV movements are controlled remotely from the clients head office in Seria in real time thorough OPC interfaces. The installation was successfully completed in eight days.
