HOUSTON, Nov 10, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Baker Hughes Incorporated (NYSE: BHI; EBS) commented on the variance in the North American weekly rig count published today. The U.S. land rig count reported this week of 1,586 represents a decrease of 41 rigs from last week's U.S. land rig count of 1,627. The decrease reflects the impact of weather delays in North Texas and Oklahoma, as well as refinements in the methodology used to compile the rig count to ensure consistency in the compilation of the rig count. These refinements effectively reduced this week's land rig count by approximately 15-20 rigs. There are no changes to the definition of an active rig. Historical data will not be revised.
Baker Hughes is a leading provider of drilling, formation evaluation, completion and production products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry.
