NASA employees can explore opportunities to transfer expertise to petroleum industry
HOUSTON, TEXAS – Aug. 22, 2011 – Baker Hughes (NYSE:BHI) is hosting a recruiting fair in order to attract current or former aerospace professionals in the greater Houston area.
Baker Hughes, which has more than 50,000 employees in 80 countries, is seeking to fill more than 200 scientific, engineering and business-related positions with highly trained and innovative professionals. This new workforce will provide the talent and momentum needed to deliver solutions to complex challenges and to bring products to market faster. Most of the positions are expected to be Houston based.
The event will be held at the Aerospace Transition Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 30–31. The Aerospace Transition Center is located at 16921 El Camino Real, Houston, TX 77058. Because the center specializes in individualized career counseling and transition support services to the aerospace industry, only current and former NASA employees and contractors will be admitted to the recruiting fair.
"NASA professionals who are no longer affiliated with a spaceflight program may be interested in applying their highly specialized skills to the oil and gas industry," says Scott Schmidt, president of drilling and evaluation for Baker Hughes. "The technological advances we are driving in the petroleum industry are as essential and as challenging as those found in aerospace. There are many opportunities for educated, talented former NASA professionals to use their abilities in this dynamic industry."
The event will have a virtual component as well, combining the best elements of an in-person recruiting fair with the convenience and utility of an online career search. Candidates who cannot attend the event are encouraged to visit www.bakerhughes.com/careers to learn about and apply for opportunities with Baker Hughes.
