Baker Hughes 538 SP1 Seal Section Extends Run Life of ESP System

Innovative redundancy dramatically enhances reliability

538 SP1 seal complements SP1 motor portfolio

This new tiered offering allows the operator to use the capabilities of the SP1 motor by incorporating a larger capacity seal for greater expansion. The pre-service feature allows the seal to be serviced before it is taken to the ﬁeld for installation, reducing the time on location to service the seal.

Patent-pending lab in a bag gives redundancy, improves reliability

This feature, in conjunction with the dual face seals throughout, allows a 3-chamber product to function as a 5-chamber. This greatly improves the redundancy within the seal and enhances reliability. By progressing from a 5.13 inch diameter frame size to the 5.38 inch diameter, the seal offers a larger volume within the seal and allows for a greater temperature range in given applications. Higher horsepower applications beneﬁt from the new size and the operating range of the seal is extended.
