In-situ Fluids eXplorer (IFX)
Fluids characterization downhole and real-timeThe Baker Hughes In-situ Fluids eXplorer™ (IFX™) service enables operators to reliably characterize downhole fluid compositions during key stages of exploration and development, as well as collect samples that are truly representative of reservoir fluids.
Robust downhole fluids analysis, combined with real-time monitoring of the IFX data, enables operators to verify reservoir connectivity or compartmentalization, detect fluid compositional gradients, validate fluid densities derived from pressure gradients, and calculate the gas-to-oil ratio (GOR) in real time. These, in turn, provide critical input used to assess the commercial value of an asset, make informed decisions about production facility design, and develop recovery strategies that ensure optimum recovery and maximum return on investment.
The fluid properties measured by the IFX service can be integrated with sample and core analysis results, fluid typing from nuclear magnetic resonance, and openhole and future production log data. The IFX service provides the information needed to conduct comprehensive petrophysical evaluations that ultimately contribute to informed decision-making throughout the lifetime of a field.
