BAKER HUGHES Scale Inhibitor Addresses Build-up of Barite and NORM in ESPs and Process Pipework

A facility on Australia’s North West Shelf had been experiencing NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) build-up associated with active barite scale deposition in electric submersible pumps (ESPs) and in the water treatment system inlet pipework. Consequently, during workover operations when the ESP’s were removed, the pumps could not be dismantled making failure investigations challenging.
