Retrievable Bridge Plugs

Finish faster, reduce risk and costs with versatile temporary plugs

Our retrievable bridge plugs are ideal for many types of pressure-pumping operations where a secure, retrievable pressure barrier is essential. These are versatile tools with flexible, cost-saving deployment options. Many eliminate the need for multiple trips, which saves time. Their safe and highly reliable operation will reduce or eliminate plugging risks while minimizing casing damage.

The Model G bridge plug is run alone for temporary isolation applications. Additional applications include multiple testing and treating operations, selective single-zone operations, fracturing, acidizing, and cementing. When run in conjunction with a Retrievamatic™ packer, this combination allows dual isolation above and below a production zone that requires treatment or repair.

This plug has a low deployment cost, and accurate setting eliminates multiple trips. The bilateral slip design allows the plug to handle pressure reversals. A unique function of the bridge plug is equalization prior to releasing. This feature allows well pressure to balance, which eliminates risks associated with releasing a bridge plug in unbalanced well conditions. The unique design of the Model G retrieving head allows cleanup of well debris above the bridge plug before equalizing and unsetting, which saves the costs of additional trips.

Our Model GT retrievable bridge plug meets temporary abandonment requirements in offshore template drilling. It can be positively tested from above and below. Well control can be maintained through tubing or drillpipe while equalizing pressure from below the plug.

The Model GTV LOK-SET™ retrievable bridge plug is a version of the GT LOK-SET retrievable bridge plug, which can be positively tested from above and below. Well control can be maintained through the tubing while equalizing pressure from below the plug.

Regulations in certain drilling markets require three containment barriers for temporary well abandonment. The Model GTV LOK-SET retrievable bridge plug provides one of those barriers. It is the first retrievable bridge plug that can be positively tested from both above and below. Pressure equalized from below the plug is contained in the workstring before the plug is released. A balanced unloading sleeve enables easy and safe pressure equalization and controls fluid flow through the bridge plug while deploying into a well.

Opposed dovetail slips prevent movement in either direction and minimize casing damage, and releasable lock segments hold the tool in the set or unset position. Drilling and complete removal of hard fill is possible with a retrieving head before equalizing and retrieving, which eliminates additional cleanout trips. A booster sleeve helps maintain element packoff during pressure reversals, which provides greater reliability.

Our Model WG retrievable bridge plug is for applications where the speed and accuracy of wireline conveyance is desired, while setting and retrieving in a live well environment. Typical applications are formation fracturing, acidizing, and testing. The Model WG retrievable bridge plug incorporates proven technology from the Model G LOK-SET retrievable bridge plug. The proven triple packing element system withstands multiple pressure reversals. It is retrieved with the Model MWG retrieving head on drillpipe, threaded tubing, coiled tubing, or wireline.

The wireline set retrievable bridge plug provides a safe and economical method to temporarily abandon well production when the speed and accuracy of wireline setting is desired, while setting and retrieving under pressure. It can be used for zone isolation, formation fracturing, acidizing, and surface equipment repair.

Wireline setting eliminates snubbing tubing or killing the well with heavy fluids. Deployment costs are low, and setting is accurate. The bilateral slip design allows the plug to handle pressure reversals. A unique function of the bridge plug is equalization prior to releasing. This feature allows well pressure to balance, which eliminates risks associated with releasing a bridge plug in unbalanced well conditions.

Our Model C retrievable bridge plug is used for acidizing, formation fracturing, and temporary pressure containment. It uses differential pressure from above or below to achieve and maintain packoff of the elements. Once the plug has been run to the desired depth and released, it sets automatically and seals against pressure differential from either direction. Simple to release and relocate, the Model C plug is ideal for selective isolation and fracturing, acidizing, or testing of several zones in one trip when used with a retrievable service packer. The Model C plug is run and retrieved with the Model H washover-type retrieving head.
