Drilling Optimization

Improve drilling performance using better application engineering solutions

We’re committed to delivering consistent results through the precise application of expertise and technology at a level that is unmatched in the industry. We integrate detailed analysis of the entire drilling system, offset data, and downhole conditions to advance your drilling project.

OASIS certification

Our OASIS-certified engineers deliver the most consistent, reliable engineering service around the globe. They draw upon a range of our analytical, performance drilling, geoscience, and knowledge-base tools to optimize your drilling program. This total systems approach with continuous analysis and improvement enables you to work more efficiently with reduced trips and enhanced safety.

OASIS-certified engineers can speak intelligently about the drilling process from end to end, contribute valid and valuable knowledge on demand, and communicate comfortably with your onsite team.

DART design application review team: a targeted approach

With our Hughes Christensen DART™ design application review team experience dating to 2001, this proprietary process

  • improves communication with customers
  • reduces costly, time consuming iterations
  • maximizes the ultimate solution.

An integrated, multidisciplinary team working with your team analyzes your project from each specialized perspective. Design, research, and application engineers and an account rep work with you to get the right bit in the hole.

DrillBit Advisor: data in; right drill bit out

This is the industry’s leading proprietary rule-based expert system for choosing the right bit. The wizard analyzes your project with proprietary algorithms, drilling data, and log data. The system recommends the ideal bit design while anticipating the problems ahead and the necessary solutions.

ROP Wizard: achieve the speed; drill ahead

Another significant proprietary tool, the wizard predicts ROP based on lithology and drilling parameters. You can use this information to make strategic decisions about aggressiveness, performance, and efficiency.

DataBit: optimized performance

The DataBit™ drilling dysfunction identification module is the in-bit recording technology for detecting performance-killing vibration. You don’t have to modify the BHA because an additional sub is not required in the drillstring: BHA integrity is not compromised. The module—transparent to your operation—fits securely in the bit shank or any modified tool joint.
