Genesis XT PDC Bits

Lower cost-per-foot

Our tough, abrasion-resistant Hughes Christensen Genesis XT™ PDC with our Z™ cutter advances extreme drilling into interbedded formations typically drilled by roller cones. The ratty nature of these tough intervals made smooth drilling almost impossible before we introduced this drill bit.

Even the toughest PDC bits could not withstand the punishment of the downhole environment without sustaining ROP-killing cutter damage. Now, you can improve your drilling economics with lower cost-per-foot.

Reduced vibration
Patented depth-of-cut control technology limits aggressiveness without limiting ROP. This means more consistent drilling torque, despite changes in WOB or formation strength.

With this approach, bearing surfaces limit cutter penetration as they enter a softer formation, preventing stick-slip and enabling much smoother drilling at lower drilling cost.

Drilling time decreases nearly 100 hr
In southern Oklahoma, a 7 7/8-in. Genesis XT PDC drilled multiple intervals consisting of shale and sandstone with thick, hard limestone stringers. These interbedded formations were known for extreme bit vibration and premature cutter wear. Section ROP suffered because bits could not stay sharp.

Compared with three offset wells, one Genesis XT PDC replaced four to five roller cone bits drilling the same section. Drilling time decreased by an average of 96.8 hr per well. By eliminating trips and reducing drilling time, the operator saved $98,000 in this section alone.
