Eco-Centre Offshore Slops Treatment Service

Eliminate transportation cost and environmental risk from shipping waste to shore

The Baker Hughes Eco-Centre™ offshore slops treatment service processes large quantities of contaminated water or slops at the rigsite, reducing the environmental risk of transporting and treating drilling waste onshore. Think of this as your on-site drilling slops processing solution.

We process oil-contaminated brines, seawater, surfactants, freshwater, and surface-generated water. The mechanical separation system generates three distinct waste streams: dried solids, oil, and water. The oil can be returned to the mud system, and the cleaned water can be discharged if allowed by local permits.

This field-proven, slops processing service began operation in Norway in early 2009. We’ve treated 631,900 gal [2,392 m3] of slops, saving our customer more than $900,000. This chemical-free method eliminates product storage on the rig; the treatment unit resides in a 20 x 8-ft container.
