Percussion Sidewall Coring

Acquire core samples cost effectively for reservoir evaluation

Percussion sidewall coring enables you to acquire formation samples for reservoir evaluation. We deploy a wireline core gun that uses a percussion charge to shoot a hollow cylinder into the wellbore. This core barrel captures formation material and holds the material in place during retrieval to surface.

A maximum of 74 samples can be taken per run at specified depths. These formation plug samples are suitable for a variety of rock properties tests, such as lithology, hydrocarbon show, and paleontological dating.

While the service generally doesn’t obtain perfect, undisturbed core samples, this is an extremely quick and cost-effective method for obtaining reservoir-formation samples.
