Automated Foam Cement System (AFCS)

Ensure high-quality foam cement operations

The Baker Hughes automated foam cement system (AFCS) helps ensure high-quality foam cement operations by automating the injection of the nitrogen and foaming agent/stabilizer into the cement slurry. The controller can be programmed to inject volumes in fixed ratios to the flow rate of the base slurry, at fixed rates, or at varying rates while performing a ramping operation.

Automation enables Baker Hughes to provide the designed downhole cement density, which optimizes well isolation without damaging the formation. Test results show injection accuracy is greater than 99% for the foaming agent and greater than 98% for the nitrogen. The proprietary Baker Hughes CemFACTS™ cementing simulation software program, used in conjunction with AFCS technology, further enhances the design and execution of foamed cementing applications.

  • Liquid additive skid (chemical pumps)

  • MCM-1011/1008 automated control system
  • Coriolis flow meter (slurry and density rates)
  • Hydraulic power unit for liquid additive skids (chemical pumps)
  • Nitrogen unit hydraulic displacement control
  • Inlet valving for liquid additives (auto foam system injection
    nozzle assembly)
  • Foaming tee
