GEOPIG Caliper Pipeline Inspection
The Baker Hughes GEOPIG™ high-resolution caliper in-line inspection service mitigates pipeline integrity issues by detecting deformation and movement. We were the first company to combine caliper and inertial technology in an intelligent pig. We’ve set the pipeline inspection standard for more than 22 years.
The GEOPIG service’s reliable caliper technology measures dents, wrinkles, buckles, and ovality while enabling strain-in-dent analysis. These vital data allow you to comply with government regulations.
Dig in the right location
When you’re looking for an anomaly, our positional accuracy is known to be the best in the industry. This accuracy is better than +/-3.3 ft [1 m], reducing overall dig cost. The GEOPIG tool’s onboard IMU collects the data to calculate a GPS coordinate for every anomaly and feature contained in the final report.
Determine if the pipeline has moved
We use the GEOPIG tool’s IMU data to calculate bending strain so you’ll know about potential pipeline movement caused by slope instability, frost heave, subsidence, temperature/pressure variations, flooding, upheaval, or new construction impact.
