Predict abnormal pressure during drilling to mitigate problems

The 1D Model module in JewelSuite GeoMechanics software provides a workflow for calculating the following from well logs and drilling data:

  • Rock mechanical properties
  • Overburden
  • Formation pore and fracture pressure
  • Horizontal stresses

In particular, you can predict pore pressure using traditional log-based effective stress trend line methods such as Eaton, equivalent depth, ratio method and the more recent Bowers method. Reliable predictions of abnormal pressure during drilling help you to mitigate kicks, blowouts, lost circulation, and nonproductive time (NPT). The 1D Model module also enables you to optimize your well plans and define a safe drilling window to maximize performance, minimize risk, and improve safety. You can easily calculate different pore pressure or rock strength scenarios (cases) for the same well.

For better insight to optimize the performance of your wells and reservoirs, you can apply your 1D geomechanical model to an advanced geomechanical workflow such as wellbore stability, full-field geomechanics simulation, and critically stressed fractures and faults.
