HSE
Baker Hughes’ fracturing/coiled tubing and tool services crews in Queensland, Australia, received an operator’s safety award recognizing 12 months work without a recordable incident. These crews completed 104 frac jobs on 23 wells safely.
A single crew—comprising up to 22 people—travels on dirt roads in heavy and light vehicles up to seven hours to a project location. The weather is extremely hot and dusty in the summer and very wet in the winter. The crews, which work with heavy equipment, always are vigilant about safety.
Preventing dropped objects
We were strongly represented at the DROPS Dropped Object Prevention Scheme day in Brunei. The event was jointly organized by the Brunei TSW HSE Network, Brunei Shell Petroleum, and DROPS Asia. Presenters talked about the best practices for preventing dropped objects on rigs.
There were more than 180 participants; more than 90% rated the forum highly.
Baker Hughes is proud to have played a leading role in promoting an important industry initiative. Similar forums are planned for other parts of the region; we will participate again.
