Social Responsibility

Investing in our communities

At Baker Hughes, we’re actively involved in supporting the local communities where we work.

Since 1996, Baker Hughes Canada has been a proud supporter of the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) through corporate and local fund-raising activities. Dedicated to providing a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical transport system for the critically ill and injured, STARS covers Western Canada and operates in the same geographical locations as Baker Hughes.

Our Calgary operations proudly support the United Way through participation in the annual fundraising campaign. Proceeds from the fund-raising activities assist in meeting the immediate needs of community residents, enabling the United Way to invest in long-term strategies that address the root causes of Calgary’s social issues.

Baker Hughes field locations across Canada are equally active in their local communities, supporting a variety of local initiatives. From Fort St. John, British Columbia, to St. John’s, Newfoundland, our people make valuable contributions in these communities everyday—coaching youth sports teams, sponsoring and hosting community events, and leading the charge in many ways that improve the neighbourhoods where we work.

At Baker Hughes Canada, corporate social responsibility is about more than due diligence and compliance. We strongly believe our involvement in the community motivates our employees, builds relationships, and enhances the communities where we live and work. With new and expanding facilities in several locations, we continue to invest in the infrastructure and our people across Canada. As our operations in Canada continue to grow, Baker Hughes is eager to provide more employment opportunities and greater community involvement throughout the region.
