We’re reducing the amount of water we use, as part of our environmental commitment, at two plants in Latin America: Coatzintla, Mexico, and Macae, Brazil.
We’re storing rainwater from warehouse roofs in underground tanks. The water is available for a number of uses, including sanitation, irrigation, and equipment washing. We’ve lowered plant operating cost with less water and electricity while boosting our environmental compliance.
Previously, water was supplied by tanker trucks, but complicated logistics prompted our leadership to search for alternatives.
“We expect this approach to be used across many of our other locations in Latin America. This means our other plants in the region will be reducing their environmental impact,” said Antonio Diaz, HSE director. “We’re continuing to search for new methods to reduce our footprint.”
