HSE
Our new Eastern Hemisphere headquarters and education center in Dubai was designed to reduce water consumption. None of the on-site water leaves the facility. The fully automated system is in operation 24 hours per day. This water recycling effort reduces operating cost and protects the environment.
Industrial wastewater is piped to a treatment reactor. A new sewage treatment process applies technology based on specially designed plastic biofilm carriers.
Treated water can be used for landscaping, irrigation, toilet flushing, concrete curing, and dust-suppression. On average, we use about 200,000 gallons of treated water each month for irrigation.
Improving driver safety
We were a platinum sponsor of the SPE Middle East HSSE Conference and Exhibition in Bahrain. Nick Beeson, managing director of our Egypt, Syria, and Jordan geomarket, was a speaker at the plenary session “Leading HSE Excellence.”
The audience included H.E. Dr. Abdul-Hussain bin Ali Mirza, minister of the Oil and Gas Authority, Bahrain, and other distinguished guests from major Middle East oil companies, including Saudi Aramco, BAPCO, KOC, PDO, and ADMA.
At the exhibition, there was outstanding interest in our booth for our Super 6 Safe Driving Rules for the Middle East region: make sure your vehicle is roadworthy; plan your journey in advance; wear your seatbelts at all times—they are mandatory; remain under the speed limit and maintain space between vehicles; keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times and stay focused; and be a courteous driver.
