Integrated Operations
An Integrated Operations team—working with the Novisibirsk affiliate of a major Russian operator—has reduced well construction time 31% to 25 days from 36 days. This project, which began in August 2006, has comprised 3 rigs drilling 110 wells for a total of 1,050,000 ft [320,000 m]. We’ve increased drilling time without tripping.
Our technology has included Baker Hughes directional drilling systems and MWD, five drill bit designs, drilling fluids, coring, well profile optimization, and the optimal bottomhole motor. HS&E performance has been outstanding.
We tested a new system of freshwater drilling fluids, which increased drilling speed without tripping while reducing waste volume. There was minimal impact on the reservoir properties of the pay bed.
In addition, we developed and fully implemented a logistics scheme to transport personnel and deliver the equipment and materials despite the absence of all-season roads. We selected contractors for communications, loading/unloading operations, potable water delivery, and personnel accommodations.
There have been zero road accidents or project injuries.
