Colin Parris

Vice President, Software Research, GE Global Research Center

Colin leads a team of software, systems, and analytics experts researching the ways data can impact industry. His role encompasses partnerships with GE’s businesses, partners, and clients. Before joining GE, he spent 20 years at IBM, most recently as VP of Systems Research in the TJ Watson Research Division. Before that, he was GM for IBM's $5 billion Power Systems business. Colin also held several research positions at IBM and at AT&T Bell Laboratories, he's published technical papers on network management, multimedia systems, and mobile agents, and holds 6 patents. Colin earned his bachelor’s degree in electric engineering from Howard University, and master’s degrees in electric engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, and in management from Stanford University, as a Sloan Fellow. He also received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from UC, Berkeley.
