Overview
When it comes to drilling complex intervals and longer laterals, rotary steerable systems (RSSs) fitted with polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bits are considered the industry standard. However, rotary steerables require a higher upfront investment compared to bent motor assemblies, and standard PDC bits can create dysfunctions such as poor directional control and life-limiting vibrations that limit RSS performance.
