Overview

The RCX Sentinel XR focused sampling service from Baker Hughes extends the ability to deliver you cleaner, faster, and safer formation fluid samples in previously unachievable conditions. With a variety of packer options, the RCX Sentinel XR service offers reservoir engineers and petrophysicists the flexibility to take focused samples in unconsolidated and low-mobility formations. This enables them to make more informed decisions about the reservoir while reducing rig time, cost, and risk.

Acquire accurate fluid samples in unconsolidated formations

The large-face packer of the RCX Sentinel XR service extends your ability to acquire accurate fluid samples into unconsolidated formations. The increased rubber surface area of the packer optimizes focusing by supporting a larger portion of the sand face, and the flow area reduces the pressure drop while maintaining a high-flow rate in this type of formation. The sand support ring is designed to contact the formation when the packer is extended to increase the support of the sand face that provides a uniform flow and avoids the possibility of sanding and the subsequent lost seal.

Acquire accurate fluid samples in low-mobility formations

The elongated packer of the RCX Sentinel XR service extends the ability to acquire accurate fluid samples into low-mobility formations. The increased flow area of the extra-elongated packer optimizes the cleanup process and expedites sample acquisition by enabling an adequate flow rate that removes fluids from the invaded zone and focuses them by the pressure differential between the two isolated fluid inlets.

The RCX Sentinel XR service uses the Reservoir Characterization eXplorer™ (RCX) service platform, which has a proven track record of reliable operations, including hostile and high-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) environments. The RCX Sentinel XR service is deployable in wells with temperatures and pressures up to 395°F (202°C) and 25,000 psi (1,724 bar).

RCX Sentinel XR focused sampling service applications include:

  • Unconsolidated formations
  • Low-mobility formations
  • Deepwater wells
  • High-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) environments
