Overview

Panametrics, a Baker Hughes business, offers a comprehensive clamp-on portfolio consisting of AquaTrans, DigitalFlow, and PanaFlow models.

Ultrasonic clamp-on flow meters measure fluid flow in main applications. By using sound waves to determine the transit time of a gas or liquid, ultrasonic flow meters can accurately monitor any changes in flow, both upstream and downstream. Versus traditional vortex flowmeters, ultrasonic flow meters offer additional benefits such as no moving parts, thus reducing failure occurrences and extending the life of the flow meter, plus the ability to simply clamp the flow meter to the side of a pipe, so there is no need to shut down production, install an inline meter, calibrate it, and restart. With our ultrasonic clamp-on flow meters you can choose where to measure, without having to disrupt production at all.

Easy to install without process shutdown, these meters are accurate and versatile for a variety of industries, fluids, and pipe thicknesses. Whether chain, wire rope, Velcro® strap, or a magnetic, bolt-on, or weldable steel yoke with metal band, our clamp-on meters makeinstallation and removal a breeze, enabling your team to work more efficiently, and spot check flow at virtually any section of pipeline.

Ultrasonic clamp-on meters serve a variety of flow measurement applications for industries such as municipal for water, wastewater, potable, and sewage; district energy, condensate, and chilled water; and processing applications such as oil and gas, hydrocarbon, chemical, food & beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. The meters maintain a reading of 1 to 2% and are contamination-free.

DigitalFlow GC868 Ultrasonic Gas Flow Meter

The Panametrics DigitalFlow GC868 ultrasonic gas flow meter is a fixed-installation clamp-on meter. Its advanced clamp-on ultrasonic transducers and clamping fixture make this flow meter accurate and easy to use in process environments, applying Panametrics’ patented transit time techniques for many types of gas process measurements.

The DigitalFlow GC868 flowmeter can be used to measure the flow of any gas. It is especially useful for metering erosive, corrosive, toxic, high-purity or sterile gases, or in any application where penetrating the pipe wall is undesirable. Since no tapping or cutting of the pipe is required, permanent installation costs are significantly reduced. The meter has no wetted or moving parts, rarely requires maintenance, causes no pressure drop, and has very wide rangeability. Features include:

  • Clamp-on unobstructed installation
  • No wetted parts
  • Two-channel/two-path version available
  • No moving parts
  • No pressure drop
  • Sound speed output
  • Simple installation
  • Standard volumetric flow calculation
  • Steam mass flow
  • Supercompressibility compensation
  • Suitable for a wide range of temperatures and pressures

DigitalFlow CTF878 Ultrasonic Clamp-on Gas Flow Meter

The Panametrics DigitalFlow CTF878 is a clamp-on gas flow meter specifically designed for corrosive, toxic, high-purity, and sterile gas environments. It is highly accurate in measuring the flow of natural gas, compressed air, inert gas, and any other gases.

The DigitalFlow CTF878 clamp-on gas flow meter utilizes a new technology called correlation tag (patented) to determine gas flow rate. This technique is very different from traditional ultrasonic transit-time measurement and is well-suited for gas applications. The DigitalFlow CTF878 can measure a wide range of velocities in small to large pipes up to 200 ft/s (61 m/s), giving it broad applicability in gas flow measurement. It is used on plastic and metal pipes from 2 to 36 in. (50 to 900 mm) in diameter. Accuracy is excellent— better than ±2 percent of reading—with repeatability of ±0.2 to ±0.6 percent of reading. The turndown ratio is 43-to-1. Features include:

  • Suitable for metal pipes with pressures as low as atmospheric pressure
  • Clamp-on unobstructed installation
  • No wetted parts
  • No moving parts
  • No pressure drop
  • Simple installation
  • Standard volumetric calculation (ideal gas)
  • Suitable for a wide range of temperatures
  • High-velocity capability

DigitalFlow DF868 Ultrasonic Clamp-on Liquid Flow Meter

The DigitalFlow DF868 is a full-featured, fixed-installation liquid flowmeter designed to meet all your flow metering and energy measurement needs.

Its patented Correlation Transit-Time™ digital signal processing provides drift-free measurements in ultrapure and most “dirty” liquids.  This includes fluids with gas bubbles and entrained solids that have previously required Doppler-type meters.

Using clamp-on flow transducers, the DigitalFlow DF868 measures flow rate through metal, plastic, or even concrete-lined pipes without penetrating the pipe wall. To hold clamp-on transducers in place, a variety of clamping fixtures are available to accommodate different pipe sizes, transducer types, and attachment methods (e.g., chain, wire rope, Velcro® strap, or a magnetic, bolt-on, or weldable steel yoke with metal band). Our universal clamping fixture includes ruled slide tracks to simplify transducer spacing for accurate flow measurements. There’s even a special small-pipe clamping fixture with miniaturized transducers to simplify flow measurement on 0.5 to 2 inch (15 to 50 mm) lines. Features include:
