When you need a robust connection between your electrical submersible pump (ESP) and its power source, the Baker Hughes CentriLink™ motor lead extension (MLE) delivers. Our extensive portfolio of MLEs deliver superior motor connection electrical properties at higher temperature, voltage, and amperage ratings—giving you the reliability you need in increasingly challenging oilfield applications.

Sealing advances for assured reliability

The CentriLink MLE’s enhanced design includes increased tracking distance to ground, which improves the dielectric strength of the motor insulating block and motor lead connection. And with its advanced materials of construction, enhanced insulating block, and patented internal seal, the MLE increases your ESP system reliability at higher temperatures while improving resistance to rapid gas decompression.

The CentriLink MLE features several enhanced sealing properties to prevent wellbore fluid or debris from entering the motor. The MLE’s plug-in connection is designed to reduce rig time and minimize contamination risks during installation. And thanks to its special factory-installed isolation device, the MLE allows field technicians to perform cable and electrical integrity tests with no exposure to potential contaminants or HSE risks.

Different designs for different needs

The MLEs are available in both a low-profile and a high-load configuration. The CentriLink 12 MLE’s unique low-profile motor lead connection, with an in-line connection design, reduces the risk of damage during system installation. This low-profile configuration also accommodates a larger diameter motor shaft for improved motor reliability during hard starts.

And in high-temperature wells with elevated levels of H2S, Baker Hughes has developed the CentriLink SHIELD™ harsh-environment MLE. Seal integrity is assured with three metal-on-metal primary seals featuring a compression fitting assembly attached to noncorrosive Monel-encapsulated copper conductors. By eliminating the elastomeric materials and two-thirds of the potential leak paths of a standard plug-in MLE, the CentriLink SHIELD MLE reliably handles pressure changes and reduces the potential for H2S migration into the motor and cable.  

For your higher horsepower systems, the CentriLink 20 MLE features larger conductors for higher current capacity.
