Enhanced Inspection Technique for Pipeline Supports
Pipeline Corrosion Data Like You’ve Never Seen It

Our CUPS (Corrosion Under Pipe Supports) Inspection service is a non-invasive guided wave inspection technique for assessing the condition of above-ground pipeline supports. CUPS leverages patented short-range ultrasonic guided wave technology using Higher Order Modes Clusters (HOMC) to deliver high-quality data, higher dimensioning accuracy, and better data visualization than any other technology available. The guided waves, which can be directed circumferentially or axially, reflect from corrosion and other pipe features, even those portions inaccessible to other inspection techniques, allowing for incredibly detailed data. What’s more, CUPS software automatically adjusts to ensure that all data is consistent and reliable.

Waygate's CUPS Inspection service allows pipeline managers across all industries to rest easy knowing that CUPS is the definitive solution for identifying hidden threats. CUPS is compatible with a wide range of pipe diameters and varying support types that would ordinarily make online inspection impossible. That means gas, petroleum, chemical, and water pipelines can now be tested with pinpoint accuracy, allowing for proactive remediation planning — all without having to take operations offline. With regular testing using the CUPS automated scanning system, risks due to aging, corrosion, fretting, and stress cracks are virtually eliminated.

Axial and Circumferential Modes Provide More Accurate Inspection of Inaccessible Areas

CUPS inspection scans axially (AHOMC) as well as circumferentially (CHOMC) around the pipe to detect corrosion under the pipe supports. As a result, CUPS is able to provide high resolution scans and powerful data no matter how challenging the application may be.

AHOMC Overview 1

Axial mode allows for inspection along pipe length on either side of pipes supports.

Circumferential mode inspects along the pipe length from the 2 and 10 o’clock positions.
