Baker Hughes, a GE company, has a new site. Want to see how we’re inventing smarter ways to bring energy to the world?
In the Middle East in 2007, an existing horizontal well required a recompletion with effective distribution and equalization of the oil influx from the reservoir into the wellbore. The well showed a very uneven flow distribution with 70% of production coming from a single fracture.
The well was a highly permeable, naturally fractured carbonate reservoir with light- and low-viscosity oil. The operator wanted to equalize oil influx in the entire horizontal wellbore by mitigating fractures contribution and water production, prolonging well life and increasing sweep efficiency to maximize ultimate recovery.
