Geothermal power plants generate electricity for commercial and residential use by using naturally occurring hot water or steam produced from geothermal reservoirs to drive the power plant turbines. The used water or steam returns to the geothermal reservoir so the process can begin again.

As a result of a plant expansion, a US geothermal power producer wanted to increase water production, beyond what the existing line-shaft turbine pumps could produce.

Because the hot water temperature at this geothermal power plant varied, Baker Hughes engineers recommended using Centrilift XP™ Xtreme Performance series ESP system which is specially designed to work in conditions up to 450ºF (232ºC).
