Overcoming the challenges of multiple countries and time zones, the Nexus Controls team successfully completed a Factory Acceptance Test in the USA for Fauji Fertilizer Company Ltd.
This project involved three 42mm EX2100e Exciters with very complex design. Multiple manufacturing locations were involved in supplying parts/subassemblies which went into final assembly at our sub vendor in USA. Our engineers based in Dubai, Salem & Longmont collaborated closely with both internal and external stakeholders despite ongoing global pandemic related to COVID-19.
Once system was fully assembled customer informed their inability to travel due to COVID-19. Team immediately proposed a solution to conduct factory acceptance test remotely. Initially customer was hesitant and had reservations on the ability to conduct such test remotely. Our team promptly demonstrated the quality of link using high definition camera’s. After the demo customer accepted our proposal for remote FAT. These tests were then conducted over multiple sessions where customer deep dived into detailed inspection of the system and provided multiple recommendation for changes which were promptly carried out.
Completing the major milestone on time in current condition was a great achievement, which would not have been possible without the spirit displayed by all team members, the same was acknowledged by customer through below feedback:
“I also take this opportunity and express my gratitude and wishes to Team at Baker Hughes on this successful Hardware FAT (Remote) of our Excitation Systems. It was a unique experience and best solution in this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said the customer. “It could not have been possible without mutual understanding and close teamwork. We appreciate the creative solution and remote support from Baker Hughes.”
Nexus Controls achieved the critical milestone of customer acceptance and we look forward to achieving the next milestone of successful commissioning with the same zeal and teamwork.
