Baker Hughes, a GE company, has a new site. Want to see how we’re inventing smarter ways to bring energy to the world?
Heavy fuel oil (HFO) can have high levels of contaminant metals, sulfur, and asphaltenes that can make lower fuel quality. Poor quality fuel causes ash fouling, slag, and corrosion. Baker Hughes HFO combustion additives address HFO problems, making a poor quality fuel a premium, saleable product. Our fuel additives improve the performance of and add value to HFO.
Ensure fuel quality and become a trusted supplier
To earn a repeat customer, you must sell the best quality product. HFO is often poor quality, containing contaminants that cause problems when burnt. It’s important for your customer—and your business—that these problems are addressed at the terminal and are a non-issue. That way you become the trusted supplier.
Avoid contaminants and resulting challenges
Our fuel additives improve the performance of HFO and residual fuel oil (RFO) grades. These fuels often contain high sulfur and contaminant metal (CM) levels. This leads to corrosion, slag, and ash fouling when used in industrial applications, utility boilers, or power generation. These fuels may also contain high asphaltenes levels that can make the fuel unstable when stored or give poor combustion.

Our HFO additives include fuel stability additives, combustion improvers, corrosion inhibitors, and ash modifiers.
Sell products with confidence
When added to problem fuels, our HFO combustion additives improve performance. These fuels can then be sold to your customer as a premium treated, usable product. You can be confident that when the fuel is burnt, it won’t cause them—or you—any problems.
