Control overhead corrosion

Baker Hughes TOPGUARD™ overhead corrosion control program predicts and controls the corrosive impact of crude blends and operating conditions. Our program uses sophisticated simulation technology that offers critical insight into the phase behavior that leads to corrosion. The Baker Hughes Ionic Model—a proprietary thermodynamic database containing over a decade of application experience—and our field-based ionic model technology, TOPGUARD corrosion risk monitor (CRM), enhance  the integrity and safety of your operations.

TOPGUARD field amine measurement services enables early amine detection to help you maximize reliability and yield optimization. This unique methodology detects monoethanolamine (MEA) at very low concentrations in crude oils. Testing is performed onsite, and delivers feedback in as little as one hour, providing critical information for assessing the corrosion risk potential of the amines. When combined with the TOPGUARD CRM, the fast quantification of MEA allows for a comprehensive determination of corrosion risk, and helps confirm when mitigation of MEA hydrochloride salt risk is needed.

The TOPGUARD program defines the optimum operating envelope for increased feedstock flexibility, responds to changing unit conditions for improved process reliability, increases capacity utilization for increased refinery profitability, and reduces maintenance cost by extending equipment life.
