Baker Hughes, a GE company, has a new site. Want to see how we’re inventing smarter ways to bring energy to the world?
Our corrosion control programs combine chemicals, simulation, and monitoring techniques to minimize the impact of naphthenic acid and overhead corrosion. This improves safety, increases feedstock flexibility, and reduces your total cost of operations.
Enhance integrity and safety of your operations by minimizing corrosion. Minimizing corrosion increases refinery profitability by increasing process reliability, capacity utilization, and feedstock flexibility. It also reduces maintenance cost and extends equipment life. Our solutions let you run higher TAN crude blends, avoid costly corrosion failures, and have crude oil selection flexibility.
Address naphthenic acid corrosion
High-acid crudes are economically beneficial for refiners, but the negative impacts of the crudes must be overcome. Naphthenic acid affects product yields, quality, and reliability.
Baker Hughes SMARTGUARD™ naphthenic acid corrosion control program ensures such economic opportunities are taken while minimizing total cost of running these crudes. Our program protects critical refinery equipment from high-temperature corrosion and reduces the risk in safely processing high-acid crudes. The program also offers greater flexibility to profit from running a higher percentage of discounted opportunity crudes.
Control overhead corrosion
Baker Hughes TOPGUARD™ overhead corrosion control program predicts and controls the corrosive impact of crude blends and operating conditions. Our program uses sophisticated simulation technology that offers critical insight into the phase behavior that leads to corrosion. The Baker Hughes Ionic Model—a proprietary thermodynamic database containing over a decade of application experience—and our field-based ionic model technology, TOPGUARD corrosion risk monitor (CRM), enhance the integrity and safety of your operations.
TOPGUARD field amine measurement services enables early amine detection to help you maximize reliability and yield optimization. This unique methodology detects monoethanolamine (MEA) at very low concentrations in crude oils. Testing is performed onsite, and delivers feedback in as little as one hour, providing critical information for assessing the corrosion risk potential of the amines. When combined with the TOPGUARD CRM, the fast quantification of MEA allows for a comprehensive determination of corrosion risk, and helps confirm when mitigation of MEA hydrochloride salt risk is needed.
The TOPGUARD program defines the optimum operating envelope for increased feedstock flexibility, responds to changing unit conditions for improved process reliability, increases capacity utilization for increased refinery profitability, and reduces maintenance cost by extending equipment life.
A series of TOPGUARD corrosion inhibitors and neutralizers have been specifically developed to address the increased corrosion potential that occurs with more challenging opportunity crude oils.
