Overview

Overview

Gain detailed insights into your reservoir’s lithology and mineralogy through the casing with the RockView™ Thru service from Baker Hughes. By acquiring and processing high-resolution gamma ray spectroscopy data, the cased-hole formation evaluation service resolves the ambiguities of traditional petrophysical evaluation models.

Safe, cost-effective characterization

The RockView Thru service incorporates geochemical data acquired with the Baker Hughes Spectralog™ and Formation Lithology eXplorer™ (FLeX) services for its analysis. This data, coupled with a unique mineral quantification system and characterization algorithms, provides in-situ mineralogical characterization of your conventional and unconventional formations, through the casing.

Acquiring similar data through openhole logging and conventional cores would require the costly and time-consuming process of removing the casing. And because the RockView Thru service replaces a potentially hazardous chemical radioactive source with a pulsed-neutron source, the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) risks typically associated with deploying wireline logging tools are minimized.

The RockView Thru service can also help you reassess the economic viability of previously bypassed zones. Through direct measurement of carbon in these zones, the total organic content (TOC) or kerogen content can be quantified in your reservoir. Use these values to accurately estimate the total hydrocarbon present in conventional reservoirs or gas-in-place in unconventional reservoirs.

Improve your hydraulic fracturing planning with the RockView Thru service’s measurements of formation lithology, mineralogy, and TOC. Combining these measurements with the dynamic and static geomechanical properties obtained by the Baker Hughes  XMAC™ F1 acoustic service, you’ll be able to optimize frac placement to target your formation’s most productive “sweet spot.”

And if your reservoir needs to be stimulated for secondary or tertiary recovery, the RockView Thru service provides detailed insights into the presence of certain minerals, which can improve the design of your completion or stimulation program.
