Image Quality

The composition of the imaging plate storage phosphor material ensures optimum performance. The material has high absorption efficiency, excellent homogeneity, and a short response time to ensure high sharpness and contrast.

Fewer Retakes

In most cases, imaging plates allow the visualization of all diagnostic information with only one exposure.

Dose Reduction

A high tolerance for varying exposure conditions allows for greater freedom in the selection of the exposure dose.

Long lifetime

Our imaging plates are protected by an EBC (electron-beam-cured) topcoat. This results in plates with superb protection from mechanical wear and excellent chemical resistance.

Applicability

All plates come in more than 40 standard sizes but can also be customized to you specific needs.

Especially highly specialized applications in industries like power generation and aerospace require the highest image quality and sharpness for their critical inspections. To meet their need, Waygate Technologies developed the imaging plate IPU2.  Leveraging advanced phosphor nanotechnology, the IPU2 maintains its position as the sharpest imaging plate in NDT and a trusted tool for highly demanding inspection tasks. Thus, IPU2 significantly improves your probability of detection with a normalized signal-to-noise ratio (SNRn) between 250 and 400 – unmatched in CR technology.

IPS-N – longer IP lifespan with improved topcoat

With its highly uniform structure and improved performance, the IPS‑N offers a strong balance of sharpness and clarity that supports reliable inspections across many applications. The plate delivers 100 µm SRb and a 20% increase in SNR, which means noticeably cleaner images with less noise. 

Teams can often reduce exposure time while still achieving the necessary inspection result because the IPS‑N provides image quality well above the minimum required by standards. This leads to faster workflows, shorter inspection cycles, and higher overall throughput. Its improved dose sensitivity further supports efficient operation, particularly in weld inspection and other high‑end tasks. Building on the trusted performance of the previous IPS plate, the IPS‑N also retains its proven scratch‑resistant coating for long‑lasting durability without compromising image quality.

IPC2-N – fast and reliable screening inspections

The IPC2‑N is engineered for fast image acquisition, making it ideal for high‑volume screening tasks. With improved sharpness of 100 µm SRb and a 60 percent increase in SNR, it delivers clearer, cleaner images that help reveal corrosion, erosion, and other key details with confidence.

Because the IPC2‑N provides image quality well above the minimum required by standards, users can often reduce exposure time and still achieve a compliant result, leading to faster inspections and higher throughput. These gains now also make weld inspection achievable, adding to established applications such as O&G, CUI, wall thickness measurements, concrete examination, and castings.

IPU2-N - best combination between sharpness and speed

The IPU2‑N is designed for inspections where both speed and sharpness are essential, making it a strong fit for productivity‑driven environments such as oil and gas and power generation. It offers the best combination of sharpness and speed in its class, ensuring reliable results with shorter exposure times. 

Building on the trusted IPU2 platform, it provides 50 µm SRb and a substantial increase in dose sensitivity that reduces exposure time by up to 50 percent. This results in faster weld inspections while maintaining the high level of diagnostic confidence expected in demanding applications. A 10 percent improvement in SNR further enhances overall image clarity. The efficiency gains make the IPU2‑N an attractive option for high‑throughput workflows. The existing IPU2 will remain available for customers who still require the full 40 µm SRb sharpness. For applications where 50 µm is acceptable, moving to the IPU2‑N provides significant time savings and improved inspection performance.
