Versatile and ultra-portable phased array ultrasonic scanner for your corrosion inspection needs in the oil and gas industry.
Krautkrämer PAXYS is Waygate Technologies’ innovative scanner platform powered by our proven technology comPAct. It combines the performance of a complete phased array inspection system in an ultra-portable sub-1kg device thanks to miniaturized instrument electronics. With Krautkrämer PAXYS, your inspection team requires less equipment, seamlessly replacing manual UT grids with an efficient, encoded workflow. PAXYS ensures highly repeatable thickness data and clear C-scan visualizations with maximum portability, minimum weight, and excellent connectivity for time- and cost-efficient corrosion mapping.
Upgrade from Manual UT
Leave behind slow, point-by-point thickness measurements. Krautkrämer PAXYS offers a practical, low-complexity upgrade to scanner-based corrosion mapping. It empowers your entire inspection workforce to capture highly repeatable data and clear C-scan visualizations, effectively reducing turnaround times without requiring advanced PAUT training or complex setups.
How it Works
Powered by comPAct Technology
At the heart of the scanner sits our patented comPAct technology, which integrates full phased array electronics into a single thumb-sized chip. This miniaturization eliminates the need for heavy, separate PA instruments. Combined with an interchangeable probe module design, PAXYS serves as a versatile, future-ready platform that adapts to evolving inspection challenges.
The most cost-effective lightweight PA solution
The patented technology of comPAct compresses the functionality of PA electronics into a half-thumb-sized chip. The miniaturized instrument electronics enable a 100x reduction in volume and a 20x reduction in power consumption compared to traditional PA instruments, allowing the instruments to be easily powered from a tablet or PC via a USB connection. Minimal size and light weight offer maximum flexibility for housing PA electronics in a box, directly in a scanner, or even in the PA probe itself.
comPAct paves new ways for lighter, simpler and more cost-effective UT phased array applications.
Ultra-Portable Single-Person Operations
Engineered for the demanding realities of the field, the entire system – including scanner, pressure bottle, and a Windows tablet – fits neatly into a single backpack. Weighing less than 1 kg and equipped with magnetic wear shoes for superior surface coupling, it is the ideal, accessible solution for rope access work, confined spaces, and pipe trenches, allowing a single inspector to safely manage the entire workflow.
Krautkrämer PAXYS is a small and lightweight yet powerful all-in-one solution that allows maximum portability. There is no heavy, complex phased array instrument required. The entire system—including the scanner, pressure bottle, and a lightweight Windows tablet—fits neatly into a single backpack. Tasks that previously required multi-person crews can now be managed efficiently by a single inspector, making it ideal for turnaround work or pipe inspections in trenches.
Thanks to the scanner's four-wheel design, Krautkrämer PAXYS provides excellent load distribution and surface stability. The magnetic wear shoes ensure superior surface coupling, holding its position on vertical or inverted structures so operators can move freely. The X/Y dual-axis encoding flawlessly tracks movement, minimizing human error and operator dependence. Replaceable magnetic wear shoes with integrated couplant channels are available in multiple radii to adapt perfectly to both flat and curved surfaces.
The high connectivity of Krautkrämer PAXYS enables faster data insights and easier reporting. The scanner can be easily connected to any standard Windows 11 tablet, laptop, or desktop simply via USB port, utilizing the Acquire Software platform with no proprietary hardware required. With a Wi-Fi or cellular-enabled tablet or PC, you can seamlessly connect to customer networks for efficient data collection, storage, and analysis, and use the tablet camera to add photos directly to your reports.
