The pharmaceutical and healthcare industries maintain maximum levels of safety and exceptionally clean, contamination-free processes to ensure that pharmaceuticals, medical devices and patient care are delivered with the highest degree of purity and integrity.

Maintaining purity during surgical operations and other critical medical procedures is paramount to physicians, medical personnel and healthcare workers. These procedures take place in clean rooms that rely on the purest air quality, continually delivering clean air through a system of pipes that run throughout the clean rooms. The pipes undergo a regular “Clean in Place” (CIP) and/or “Sterilization in Place” (SIP) process to ensure the pipelines remain clean.

The recent introduction of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) substantially reduces hazardous air quality conditions, delivering the utmost in clean and safe environments.

In addition to the air purity imperative, our pharmaceutical and healthcare industries continue to uphold maximum levels of safety, exceptional productivity, and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Water Measurement

Primary applications for Panametrics’ clamp-on flow meters support multiple water functions, from raw water, water + ozone, water + chemicals to hot water, chilled water, pure and ultra-pure water, among other options, such as compressed air and oxygen.

Oxygen & Moistrue Measurement

Pharmaceutical labs and other types of clean rooms require precise, drift-free humidity control to validate, process and store products, including bandages, sutures, contact lenses and prescription tablets, and to certify diagnostics manufacturing.

Humidity control can also be managed using a dew point transmitter to modulate steam valves, placed directly into a duct. The sensor embedded in the transmitter records the high humidity and temperatures and offers trouble-free calibration and maintenance. As well, transmitter calibration enables tablet coating, spray drying and ETO (ethylene oxide) sterilization, a low-temperature process that reduces the level of infectious agents.

Revamped processes now comply with HACCP for new production plants, extensions and upgrades that are engineered to provide safe, clean, and consistent measurements. One such process is an inerting system, which helps increase safety in labs and clean rooms. A chemically non-reactive or “inert” gas, such as nitrogen is injected that reduces the risk of combustion caused by flammable materials that can be stored in confined spaces. Calibrated moisture probes monitor the inerting process to confirm the purity of the air by “airveying”, which conveys the pure air that is essential not just for clean rooms but for storage and materials packaging.

Panametrics clamp-on flow meters are ideally suited to address a multitude of industry challenges:

  • Installs within minutes from outside the pipes
  • No interruption of process
  • No risk of contamination
  • Withstands temperature fluctuations from normal operations to CIP/SIP cleansing processes
  • Assesses the ‘health’ of smart meters with embedded diagnostics
  • Improves energy efficiency with no pressure drop
  • Low CAPEX and OPEX
  • Increases process availability with no downtime
