Baker Hughes is 100% committed to quality at every stage. This commitment is reflected in our outcomes, which means higher reliability and ESP run life.

Baker Hughes maintains the highest industry standard compliance when it comes to manufacturing. We are proud to say that we’re one of the few in the industry who is certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and 372 standards.

When it comes to quality manufacturing, Baker Hughes sets the bar high. It’s about more than just great products. It’s a commitment to YOU – that we're 100% committed to quality at every stage of every product’s lifecycle.

We maintain a rigorous 8-step approach, optimized for extending run life.

We then take all of this and learn and improve based on teardown and comprehensive failure analysis so that we’re continually evolving with your changing needs.

8 Steps of Artificial Lift Services Core Quality
Step 1: Design for Manufacturability

Our designs are engineered for efficient production, ensuring streamlined quality from the ground up.

As part of our commitment to quality, we ensure all our products are produced timely, with no defects through intensive design reviews.

Part of that process includes checking for things like:

  • Mechanical and electrical design considerations
  • Manufacturing process qualifications and detailed training to ensure it all goes smoothly
  • And a thorough review of the equipment needed to produce prototypes that all lead to your superior finished product
Step 2: Supplier Qualification

We collaborate with top suppliers to ensure the highest standards.

At Baker Hughes, our Engineering and Sourcing teams work diligently to identify only the most trusted suppliers who have undergone an extensive qualification process. Baker Hughes approved suppliers are continually monitored to ensure the highest levels of quality.

Step 3: First Article Approval

Our first article approval process guarantees precision and quality.

A First Article Inspection is essential when we’re producing new or updated parts or working with a new vendor to ensure every part we make meets the highest design specifications before full production.

We conduct dimensional inspections and review Material Test Reports to ensure the highest levels of conformance with Baker Hughes Engineering specifications.

Step 4: Inspection & Testing

Our rigorous inspection and testing ensure top performance.

We maintain the highest levels of inspection and testing to ensure top product performance. That includes identification, traceability, and documentation verification to ensure the highest standards.

After manufacture and assembly, all our pumps, motors, and variable speed drives are subject to Factory Acceptance Testing to ensure they not only meet but exceed original design parameters.

Step 5: Service Quality

We continuously improve based on your valuable feedback.

Customer satisfaction is our top priority. We continually strive to provide the best service in the industry. We know that quality comes from maintaining the highest deliverables. From the time we initiate contact with our customers, through the execution stage and final debrief, everything we do is with quality and top-notch service in mind.

Step 6: Performance Monitoring

We monitor performance to keep operations running smoothly.

As part of our commitment to quality, we not only manufacture the highest quality parts, but we take it a step further. Our Technical Support Team ensures the downhole equipment we’ve manufactured continues to operate at its highest levels even in changing reservoir conditions.

Steps 7 and 8: Failure Analysis and Continuous Improvement

Our failure analysis process helps us prevent repeat failures and enhance reliability.

Although infrequent, ESPs can and will fail for many reasons. Whenever a product or service incident occurs at a rig-site or customer site, it’s important that we conduct a thorough investigation to determine the root cause of the incident to prevent reoccurrence and to drive effective corrective actions.

We strive for continuous data-driven improvement, and we use this as a roadmap for continuous quality improvement.
