Highlights
Benefits
- Enables controlled, reliable disconnection with robust shear
- Allows for efficient cementing before or after disconnection with a large internal flow area
- Ensures effective cement dressing post-disconnect with a carbide-dressed mill
- Reduces rig time and operational complexity by combining multiple steps into one deployment
Applications
- Plug and abandonment (P&A) operations
- Slot recovery campaigns
- Single-trip operations involving plug setting, cementing, dressing, casing cutting, annular cleaning, and casing retrieval
Overview
Full capability, one deployment
The Disconnect Junk Mill is engineered with a carbide-dressed face and optimized flow paths, enabling cementing without contamination or swabbing. Its design eliminates the risk of coring during cement tagging and dressing, ensuring a clean, efficient operation every time.
Take control of every move
When integrated with other single-trip tools, the Disconnect Junk Mill becomes a key enabler in modular, multi-function BHAs. Positioned between a bridge plug and a casing cutter, it allows operators to disconnect from the plug assembly after setting. This enables a fully integrated workflow - set the plug, displace and cure cement, and dress it - all in one trip. Subsequent operations like casing cutting and retrieval can proceed without additional runs, significantly reducing rig time and increasing operational flexibility.
Less Exposure. More Confidence.
By consolidating critical steps into a single deployment, the Disconnect Junk Mill supports a modular, solution-based approach to well abandonment and slot recovery. This reduces personnel exposure, minimizes equipment handling, and aligns with Baker Hughes’ commitment to safe, efficient, and sustainable intervention practices.
