Overview

Setting tools and wireline accessories from Baker Hughes offer more running options for your remediation operations. These products save you time and money by letting you choose the most effective and affordable deployment method for your situation. We offer tools for high-pressure/high-temperature wells and highly deviated wells. Several models are designed to save you time by completing multiple tasks in one trip.

The Model E-4™ wireline pressure setting assembly (WLPSA™) sets bridge plugs, cement retainers, and production packers on electric wireline. It's used with a casing collar locator for the correlation of exact setting depth. The Model E-4 WLPSA is a gas-generating tool for the gradual development of hydraulic force required to set wireline-deployed tools. Gas pressure is obtained by the electrical ignition of a BP-3S™ igniter that activates the secondary igniter and the power charge.

The Model E-4 WLPSA incorporates a disk bleeder valve to ensure safe and simple pressure bleed-off prior to disassembly after being run. The firing head connects the Model E-4 WLPSA to the collar locator on the electric wireline, providing electrical ignition of the powder charge through the primary and secondary igniters. The top end is blank, so threads can be machined to fit the electric wireline provider’s collar locator. The firing head is available separately.

Our Model E-4 HP/HT™ WLPSA is used for the gradual development of force through pressure, which operates the WLPSA in proper sequence. This ensures successful setting of bridge plugs, retainer production packers, cement retainers, and other tools deployed on wireline. It has a temperature rating of 450°F (232°C) and a pressure rating of 25,000 psi (1,724 bar).

The Model CT™ hydraulic setting tool allows the Model K-1 cement retainer to be run-in and hydraulically set on coiled tubing, drillpipe, or tubing. No rotation is required to set or release from the cement retainer, which makes the Model CT tool ideal for coiled tubing applications on offshore floaters or in highly deviated wells. It enables you to set the cement retainer and squeeze cement in one trip. Three different setting methods can accommodate most running environments.

Our Model K-1™ snap-latch setting tool reliably sets a mechanical-set K-1 cement retainer on tubing. It is easily converted to set Model K-1 cement retainers, Model N-1 bridge plugs, or Model NC-1 bridge plugs. The Model K-1 tool uses a combination of right-hand rotation and upstrain to set the cement retainer and bridge plug.

The tubing and cement retainer valve can easily be pressure-tested before cementing operations begin. Since the setting sleeve is fully retracted after the cement retainer has been set, the Model K-1 tool becomes the stinger sub for the cement retainer. The ability to use the Model K-1 tool as the setting tool and stinger sub makes it ideal for one-trip cementing operations.

The Model J™ hydraulic setting tool sets mechanical-set bridge plugs on coiled tubing. It permits setting of equipment that previously could only be set on wireline. It can run-in high-angle or deviated wells, where wireline setting is extremely difficult or impossible. The Model J is hydraulically balanced while running in the hole. It is the same size as the Model E-4 wireline pressure setting assembly and can be used in place of it when applicable. It also uses the same adaptor kits as the Model E-4 tool.
