How to Deal with Volatility

Annual Meeting 2018

How to Deal with Volatility

The panel homed in on the issue of negative perceptions outside the oil and gas industry, and the lack of awareness for how engaged O&G companies are in achieving environmental goals. This can impact fund investment interest and capital availability for new projects. The reality is that 80% of energy is still dependent on O&G, so the industry has to communicate and change perceptions so investors continue supporting the O&G industry.

Talent was another key topic. Panelists recognize that the brightest minds are attracted to challenges and excitement, and that they need to believe in the future. The industry’s excitement must be conveyed outside, and O&G companies should target the same spaces as tech companies when recruiting talent.
