Over Two Decades of Innovation, Growth, and Connection
At Waygate Technologies, we believe that behind every innovation, every milestone, and every customer success story, there’s a person — someone whose passion and dedication make it all possible. In this edition of our Meet series, we’re proud to introduce Frank, who has been part of our journey for over 22 years.

From Startup Spirit to Global Scale
Frank joined Waygate Technologies (then phoenix|x-ray) on September 2, 2002, as an Area Sales Manager. At the time, the company was just three years old, with 43 employees and a single internet-connected PC. Fast forward to today, and Frank is our Service Sales Manager for Europe, contributing to a global organization of around 57.000 people.
What brought him here? A familiar face — Dr. Stefan Becker, our former Global Sales Director and Co-Founder of phoenix|x-ray, whom Frank knew from university. That connection sparked a career that would grow alongside the company itself.
Milestones That Matter
Frank’s journey is filled with meaningful moments. One of the earliest was selling his first CT system in July 2003.
Another standout moment? The commissioning of the Phoenix V|tome|x L450 system at the Leibnitz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA) in Mainz in late 2023 to examine precious artefacts using non-destructive testing technology. The project began in 2015, with the purchase order arriving in 2017 — and the research center was literally built around the system. It was a long journey, but one that showcased the power of persistence and teamwork.
More recently, he played a key role in organizing the X-ray & CT Forum 2024 in Hamburg, a major event that brought together experts and colleagues from across the industry.
A Culture That Evolves — and Endures
Reflecting on how the company has changed, Frank notes the shift from a close-knit, single-building team to a globally distributed organization. While that brings new challenges in communication, he sees digital technology as a key enabler — and believes that strong personal connections remain a core part of our success.
“The culture was very family-like in the beginning,” he says. “Even though we’ve grown, those strong relationships are still part of who we are.”
Pride, Purpose, and People
When asked what he’s most proud of, Frank doesn’t point to a single project or title. Instead, he reflects on the bigger picture: helping the company grow from a small startup into the global leader it is today. “I’m proud — and grateful — that I could support the company in the commercial roles I’ve had,” he says.
So what has kept him here for 22 years? “It’s the colleagues and the technology,” Frank shares. “Every day brings new insights and opportunities.”
Advice for the Next Generation
For those just starting out at Waygate Technologies — or in any career — Frank keeps it simple:
“Love what you do.”
It’s a philosophy that’s clearly served him well.
